Northeast Kingdom Homecare To Expand into Caledonia County
NEWPORT – Northeast Kingdom Homecare, Inc. is now expanding its homecare offerings to seniors in Caledonia County. After meeting with a number of social service agencies, doctors and other members of the community, the company believes that NEKHC will be a valuable additional resource to seniors in the area.
“Our infrastructure has grown and we are now able to expand,” says Debra Hunt, President of NEKHC. “We have recruited caregivers and have started providing service, and we see the growth continuing.”
Gail Singer, NEKHC Support Services Coordinator, will be leading the effort to let people know about the services NEKHC provides in Caledonia County as well as ensuring excellence in the care provided to clients.
“Gail is enthusiastic, energetic and a champion for her clients,” says Hunt. “She brings many years of case management experience and has a reputation for working tirelessly for her clients, and we are pleased to have her join our team.”
Singer states, “It is so important to fulfill the need of homecare so seniors may remain at home and out of nursing homes. This gives them the advantage of not only keeping their independence but also bringing back extended families”. Singer will work with families as well as healthcare and social service agencies.
Annie Christoni is Director of Homecare. Her job is to oversee the homecare operation which will now expand into the St. Johnsbury area. “We manage all the scheduling assignments,” says Christoni. “If a caregiver is sick, we get a replacement. If we need to be there round-the-clock, that’s what we do. We handle all payroll taxes, workers compensation, unemployment, or other issues.”
NEKHC has already hired five caregivers to provide services in Caledonia County and will continue to add to the staff as the services expand. All NEKHC caregivers are covered by liability insurance, and go through a series of background checks including criminal, adult and child abuse and motor vehicle violations
