Gerry Hunt, President, NEKHC
Email GerryGerry Hunt, President of NEKHC, grew up in Island Pond, Vermont. He has a BA from UVM and a Masters in management from Antioch University.
Gerry has worked in the US Senate, the Environmental Protection Agency, and for the Veterans Administration in White River Junction.
In 1984, he began an 18-year career in the software industry. He started his own company, Netrights, LLC., which he sold to Digimarc Corporation.
In 2002, Gerry returned to the Northeast Kingdom. He was a key assistant to the founders of NEKHC and served as its chief financial officer. In December, 2010, following the death of Debra Hunt, Gerry was appointed President of NEKHC. He also works as a financial advisor and retirement planner.
About Northeast Kingdom Homecare, Inc.
Northeast Kingdom Homecare, Inc., began providing service to Orleans and Essex County residents in January 2004.
The founders were Debra Hunt, Andrea Hunt, and Pam Newell. NEKHC began as an agency recruiting, training, and employing caregivers who are placed in assignments with clients.
In summer, 2005, the company began an expansion to provide adult day services in a group setting. In September, the company purchased the building at 100 2nd Street in Newport, a 160-year-old church that opened for day services in late November.
In 2007, the company began offering services through partnerships with Professional Nurses Service, Inc. and through Orleans-Essex VNA and Hospice.
Continued growth in 2008 has led to the opening of The Meeting Place on Saturdays. Also, the company began offering its homecare services into Caledonia County, serving people in the Lyndonville and St. Johnsbury areas.
In December, 2010,following the death of President and founder, Debra Hunt, the company reorganized its management to continue its growth. The company of over 50 employees is led by the following team:
